How to Make Your iPhone Ring Even When It’s in Silent Mode

We’ve all been there: phone on silent, crucial call missed. While silencing your phone is essential in many situations, sometimes you need specific calls (or all calls) to get through, even in the quietest settings. But how do you achieve this on your iPhone without compromising overall silence?

In this guide, I will show you three (3) simple ways to make your iPhone ring even when it is in silent mode. Kindly check out the details provided below for more information.

Method 1: Emergency Bypass for Important Contacts

  • Open the Contacts app.
  • Select the contact you want to bypass silent mode.
  • Click on Edit.
  • Scroll down and click on Ringtone.
  • Toggle Emergency Bypass on (green).
  • Now, calls from this contact will always ring, even with silent mode enabled.

Method 2: Adjust “Do Not Disturb” Settings

  • Open Settings.
  • Click on Focus.
  • Select Do Not Disturb.
  • Under Allowed Notifications, choose People.
  • Select the contacts or groups whose calls you want to bypass.
  • Now, calls from these contacts will ring while Do Not Disturb is active.

Method 3: Use Medical ID Emergency Bypass

Caution: This method should only be used for true emergencies. Abusing it can be disruptive and dangerous.

  • Open the Health app.
  • Click on your profile picture in the top right corner.
  • Select Medical ID.
  • Edit your Medical ID (if necessary).
  • Enable Emergency Bypass.

Now, all incoming calls and texts will bypass silent mode when Emergency services are called from your iPhone.

If the outlined options are followed and used responsibly, you can ensure your iPhone stays silent when needed but doesn’t miss crucial calls when it matters most.
