Qualifications to Study Postgraduate Programmes at GIJ
The Ghana Institute of Journalism offers a number of recognized Postgraduate programmes (Regular & Weekend programmes) to interested applicants.
GIJ Postgraduate Programmes (Regular)
These are 15 months intensive programmes based on the semester system. Lectures start at 4.00 p.m. each day, from Monday to Friday.
- Master of Arts in Journalism
- Master of Arts in Public Relations
- Master of Arts in Media Management
- Master of Arts in Development Communication

GIJ Postgraduate Programmes (Weekends)
These are 15 months intensive programmes based on the semester system with lectures on Friday at 4.00 pm and Saturday at 7.30 am.
Qualifications to Study Postgraduate Programmes at GIJ
1. A Bachelor’s degree in Communications Studies from Ghana Institute of Journalism or any accredited/recognized University, with at least Second-Class Lower Division. Or
A Bachelor’s degree in other Disciplines from any reputable University with at least Second-Class Lower Division.
2. Pass an Entrance Examination and Selection Interview.
NOTE: Applicants from Non-English-speaking countries must also have a minimum level of English Language Proficiency in the following: GSCE/O Level. IELTS and TOEFL.
International Students
International students who hold equivalent qualifications are eligible to apply for any of the programmes.
