Uncomfortable Truths We All Need to Accept

1) No matter how hard you try, some people will hate you

You can be the nicest, most helpful person in the world and there will always be someone who hates you for no reason. It doesn’t matter how many good deeds you do or how much positivity you spread, there will always be negativity in the world. And that’s okay! Just remember that not everyone has to like you and that’s perfectly normal.

2) You cannot make anyone love you

No matter how much you want someone to love you, you cannot force them to. You can do everything in your power to make yourself lovable, but at the end of the day, it is up to the other person whether or not they want to love you back. If they don’t, there is nothing you can do about it. You just have to accept it and move on.

3) It’s not your job to take care of someone else

It’s not your job to take care of someone else. You’re not responsible for their happiness or their success. You can’t control them and you can’t make them change. They have to want it for themselves. It’s not your job to fix them or make them better. That’s their responsibility.

4) No one is going to do it for you

There is no one who will wake you up in the morning, make you breakfast, get you dressed, or drive you to work. It’s up to you to be happy and successful in life. If you want something, you have to go after it.

5) Just because you have the ability to help someone doesn’t mean you have to

You don’t have to give someone your time or energy if you don’t want to. You have the right to protect yourself, which means, simply put, if you don’t want to help someone, you don’t have to. You can’t always control things: life is unpredictable and ever-changing.

No matter how much you want to control everything or how hard you try, you cannot, because you’re not perfect. But that’s okay. It’s natural to make mistakes; there’s no need to be upset. What is important is to learn from them and try not to make the same mistakes.

6) People won’t always give it their all no matter how much you push them

You can get a horse to drink, but you can’t force it to. Humans are no different. It is ultimately up to the person to commit to the task regardless of what you may do to motivate them. And more often than not, they won’t.

7) You can’t make someone be loyal

One of the most difficult truths to accept is that you can’t make someone be loyal. You can be the best partner, friend, or family member possible, but at the end of the day, it’s up to the other person to decide whether or not they want to be loyal. If they’re not, there’s nothing you can do about it. So it’s important to accept that and move on.

8) You may be fooled by jealousy and assumptions

It’s easy to look at someone else’s life and assume that they have it all figured out. But the truth is, we all have our own struggles and insecurities. Just because someone appears to be happy and successful doesn’t mean they don’t have their own issues to deal with.

So before you get too caught up in what other people have, remember that you don’t really know what’s going on behind the scenes.

9) Sometimes the people who don’t show love do so out of fear

It’s easy to love those who love us back, but it’s much harder to love those who don’t. Why? Because it’s scary. When we love someone who doesn’t love us back, we’re putting ourselves out there in a very vulnerable way. We’re exposing ourselves to the possibility of rejection and hurt. But that’s not a reason to avoid love altogether. Love is always worth the risk.

10) The biggest favor anyone can do for us is not getting in our way while we’re trying.
